It's the cornerstone of some of David Gilmour's most famous solos, the vehicle for Ernie Isley's soul-fuzz excursions, and the foundation for J Mascis' skull cap-ripping live sound. These pedals can sound colossal, smooth, aggressive, and everything in between!
Wren and Cuff demonstrate uncommon reverence for these iconic Muffs in building the Caprid.
They combined what they considered the best of four different Ram's Head circuits to create The Caprid, a thick and growling distortion!
The enclosure is a dead ringer for an original at a glance, and it's adorned with playful and vintage-inspired touches.
The period-correct details on the exterior only hint at the care put into this design.
The tone control works in reverse, just like the original, allowing you to crank the tone with a counterclockwise turn, while boosting the volume and sustain with a clockwise turn.
For period authenticity, the pièce de résistance is the printed circuit board, which replicates the 3003 circuit board in the original Electro-Harmonix Ram's Head Muff, down to the wide copper traces. It's indulgent, impractical, and for circuit nerds, nothing short of glorious!
